Default soul food

Just wondering how people feed their souls? What do you do that makes you feel incredibly alive, renews your energy, satiates your inner wild woman? How do you challenge yourself, when the longings for stimulation stir?

I love to: attend gatherings of wonderful women, like Blessingways and birth talks. I always leave buzzing and on a bit of a high, connecting with other women who don't look at me like I'm insane when I talk about healthy normal birth, and when I whip boobs out casually. I love that moulding yonis from clay is nothing unusual amongst my favourite women!

I love reading, especially birth, AP and feminist books and relating philosophies to my life. I love making the upstairs connections, eg 'Oh I so see how that applies to my life!' I love getting stuck right in to a great book, not being able to put it down and staying up til all hours with my nose in it.

I love debating and arguing about things I passionately believe in. It broadens my mind and teaches me things about others and myself. I am constantly re-assssing and re-evaluating myself, my feelings, my place in the world and debating helps that.

I love a good herbal tea, sitting with the sunshine on my skin with my hair out, breathing in the clean air. I often have these moments where I feel very clean, refreshed and totally indulge in a moment that's all mine (then I hear the boy call out for my attention...lol)

I love activism. Activism feeds my soul for sure. I love to write letters, to lobby, to peacefully protest. I love to meet other activists and learn more about ways in which I can make changes, be it environmental, animal, birth, women/feminism. I love feeling inspired by other people, and I love the ripple effect.

yep - really similar ways to you vespertine!

* I love to be around earth mamas, to spend time with strong women
* Having a chai and sitting out in the sun / in nature to enjoy it
* Amazing great vego/ vegan food - food made with love, in a great restaurant or cafe.....feeds my body well and makes me feel cleansed
* being out in untouched nature - like a rainforest, near a waterfall,
*attending hippie gatherings, with drumming, fire twirling, dance and song
*protests
*above all - singing makes me feel like me.....makes me joyous - My favourite is to sing songs by: Tori Amos, Bjork, Ani Difranco and Fiona Apple

I love to dig in the dirt, plant seeds and wonder at nature's gifts.

I love music, but don't play any myself. Lucky for me hubby is a muso and plays guitar every day and sings a lot too. And our daughters all love to sing and sometimes make music. I hope our sons do too, one day.

I love to wander through galleries and art/craft shops marvelling at people's giftedness. I love the textures and colours, and the obvious passion that brought the creations to life.

I love to ride a horse in nature and am blessed to live somewhere with amazing views and natural beauty (waterfalls, rainforests, hills and gullies, amazing trees and wildlife...)

I love words - writing letters, songs, poetry, silly rhymes for the kids, articles, emails and forums.

I love festivals, hippy gatherings, markets etc where I feel like the straight one for a change.

I love laying on the grass with my tribe, staring and the sky and talking about the clouds and the trees. I feel like one of the kids then more than any other time.

Haha you're easily pleased Kristi

Spiral have you raided my cd collection for your singing inspiration?! And I'm like moth to a flame with drumming and fire twirling too. I actually bought some poi from Glebe markets but they have mysteriously vanished. And joining a women's drumming circle very soon- nothing like some fantastic female energy flowing to get me excited!

Ohh and Bel, I love gardening aswell. I find it difficult in my little rental though, we're surrounded by trees which leech the water and also block the sunlight. I only have one good patch of sunny soil up the back that I'm about to start an organic no-dig veggie garden on. Oh and I still have your jams ebooks etc they're great!

Something else I love to do.... is be nude! I love love love just roaming around with no clothes on. Even better it it's outdoors, although living in suburbia with no car makes that a bit tricky. It's such a freeing feeling.

Soul food:
- being out in nature (camping, hiking etc)
- choccy, port
- reading and talking about issues that interest me e.g. the environment, population growth, health etc
- visiting places and countries I've never seen before
- and last but certainly not least - also the main "soul food" that I've been feeding on recently - bubba's big smiles
