Re: Inspiration for Meditation
Well I do meditate regularly and also use visualisation because I suffer from panic attacks...I find it helpful for when I am having one and also for when I am sick. Now that Im a dab hand at it I think it would be really useful for labour as well. I dont do it daily though.
I find the time usually when I am breastfeeding dillon in bed, I sometimes use visualisation as well.
At the moment, not last night but the night before, I was quite sick with a panic attack ( I had convinced myself that Dillon was going to wake up and vomit everywhere and he didnt of course) to get myself through the night without vomiting or becoming too ill I focused on my breathing (which becomes very shallow and fast during a panic attack) so I slowed it down and I also used visualisation - a white rose which I imagined the smell, the image and I would say to myself "focus". This helps to keep irrational thoughts from entering my head.
Before I started using meditation and visualisation I would nearly always end up in an emergency room hyperventation, with gastro like symptoms. The methods I use now give me a great sense of wellbeing and also means that I can stay home during an attack which I must say, has really reduced in frequency since I started meditation and visualisation.
I also do more things now then I use too, like meet new people and go out to larger group gatherings which previously I would avoided like the plague.
I also use the image of a white rose when Im putting Dillon to sleep as a way of taking a break with my mind and getting it to the stage where I can empty it of other things to go into a deeper meditation.
I'd love to talk about new ways of using meditation and how I could get more benefits from it.....
