Default Imagination?

Hi All,

My daughter (5yrs) displays an astonishingly effortless ability to "see" images - people, animals etc. in fairly random things like nature - clouds, patterns in sand, paint sploshes, abstract artwork, etc.

As she is my only child and I dont have other little people to compare her with, I am wondering if she is displaying a natural (special) aptitude that would warrant fostering (and how would I do that) or would you say this is a common aptitude in children of this age?

Comments appreciated,
Pancho.

Bonnie does this too. She's 3 in feb and my eldest, so I don't know if it's normal either?

She might be a strong visual-spatial learner like myself and my eldest son. We both see patterns in everything. It is quite a neat skill to have, and nice way to see the world . It also means we think in pictures rather than in a sequential way - kind of a big picture learner rather than the details. This learning style isn't suited to regular schooling where there is a lot of auditory instruction.

I agree. She's got great visual skills, use them as much as you can.
