any one in NT??

Hello.
My name is Sock. I'm a 38 year old mum with a almost 4 year old son, working part time. Just arrived in NT 3 months ago. I am into attachment parenting, altho I goto admit I do not exactly follow everything,a nd sometimes am not exactly sure what is and what is not. ANyway, if there's any one out there in NT, I would love to meet up and share and just hang out together.

Hi Sock, I'm not in NT (sorry!) but I have contact with some birth groups up there who may lead to gentle parenting groups. I'll ask around

Wow this thread hasn't been used in a while! I am moving to Darwin in about six weeks. I would love to find a few similar minded people to meet up with and also would like to know of anyones birth experiences in Darwin as I will be having my second child there.

My ideal senario (sp?) would be to birth in a birthing centre but I am pretty sure there is no such thing in the NT. I have heard bad things about the public hospital up there so for now the plan is to book into the private hospital and hope they have midwives who are supportive of my birth plans.

Look forward to any replies, I don't think there are many NT members (I coud be wrong) maybe some lurkers looking for an excuse to pop out of the wood work LoL!!

Hey Maia!! Homebirth, girl! It's legal and government funded up here

Check out this link for our Homebirth Group; http://www.dhbg.org.au/ They are lovely girls, give them a call and I'm sure you can work something out if you're interested. You're right, there is no birthing centre here. And as for the public hospital...hmm...

And we have a lovely informal playgroup through the homebirth group that meets every Friday, plus the 'officail' coffee morning for the Homebirth Group once a month. PM me, and we can chat all things Top End!! Hoorah for more NP mammas in Darwin
