Weekend getaway HELP

HI all im just after some opinions on a weekend away....... there will be 2 adults and possibly 2 kids ( babysitter pending) Im looking for somewhere where we can fish, somewhere where there is a bit of nite life (doesnt have to be packed just not dead quiet) Just incase i get that babysitter. Also it has to be accessable via public transport as i have no car and be within a few hours from syd. The cheaper the better ...im happy to stay in a caravan as it will only be for 2 maybe 3 nights.

I was thinking The Enterance (id have to get a bus from gosford or ruggerah about a 40 min trip as far as i have been told)

WDYT? I havnt been to The Enterance for awhile and i didnt go "out" there so im not sure what its like?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

How about the Southern Highlands, Mandy? About 2 hours on the train, lots of shops, caravan parks, hotels, pubs. Nice log fires at this time of year!

The Enterance is quite nice. I'd probably prefere Newcastle because it has more to do and at this time of year you never know how the weather will be.

thanks for the input i really apreciate it.......................... i have now made my mind up...The Entrance it is ..............im booking a lovely "unit" which is more like a up market cabin tomorrow....and the best bit is MY MUM IS TAKING THE KIDS!!! they leave 3 pm thurs and return sun evening .................so ill do my normal thus nite kareoke and then leave early fri morn spend the weekend undoubtably very drunk and return sun evening!

Im SOOOOOOO excited!!!!
