The Northern Rivers Maternity Action Group is hosting a public forum on Birth Choices in the Northern Rivers. The forum will be held at 10am on Friday the 11th May at Southern Cross University. Some of the issues we hope to raise at the forum include publicly funded homebirth, birth centre implementation and better structured midwifery led models of maternity care. It is an opportunity for women to let the area health service know what it is they want in maternity care.
The speakers at the forum include;
- Shea Caplice, from Sydney, will speak on publicly funded homebirth and community midwifery projects.
- Bruce Teakle, from Brisbane, will speak on the consumers role in creating better maternity services
- Margaret Spain, from Wollongbar, will present on the services currently available in the northern rivers.
The Northern Rivers Maternity Action Group would like to invite all members of the public to attend the forum, “Birth Choices in the Northern Rivers”. Babies and Toddlers are welcome and will be provided with a dedicated play area supported by the Lismore Toy Library.
