Newcastle Meet up?

Hi to all the Newcastle natural parents!

I am new to the newcastle natural parenting forum. My partner and I moved from brisbane to the port stephens area at the end of last year and have recently moved to Kotara.

I have looked through these forums before but never actually contributed. I guess i thought that maybe it was a bit extreme to have groups based on a particular parenting style. I also thought that i benefitted from listening to other peoples opinions regarding parenting, not just others with the same opinions as myself. However, i feel that as my baby gets older (he is now 7 months old) there is more and more criticism and judgement of my attachment type parenting - like the fact that i demand feed and do not practise control crying, that my baby doesnt sleep through.
Most of the time i think the comments people make are not meant to be critical, and that they are only trying to help, so i just smile and nod and try not to take it personally!
but lately it has been getting to me and i start to questioin what i am doing, and feel like a failure.

i would love to meet up with other attachment parenting parents in the newcastle area. Anyone else interested in a get together soon?

Hi Tobysmum, I am from Newcastle but live in Kempsey atm, I am travelling down to Newcastle every fortnight or so to see the midwives at the birth centre so if there is a get together when i am down next i would love to come along too.

Another option for you to meet other AP-type mums might be the Newcastle ABA, I know a lot of the regulars and they are really lovely, pm me if you want any more info.

Hi tobysmum,

I subscribe to this website/mag & am very much into attachment parenting. I tend to browse the forums here every now and then but haven't contributed yet either. I'm not that great at keeping up with forum threads & personally i think i need to spend less time on the computer and more time out and about, so I would be happy to meet up sometime.

Did you try the ABA group recommended by Zoe?

btw I'm sure you are not a failure in Toby's eyes. You are parenting in the most loving & nurturing way possible. Give you precious boy all the milk and cuddles he needs.

Hi Zoe and Chase,

Thanks for your reply and your suggestion. I finally made it to an ABA meeting, and will definately go again. Everyone seemed really friendly, plus the theme was 'death by chocolate'. Yum! When i joined they also sent me a copy of their book "Breastfeeding...naturally" , and i was suprised, i didnt realise how AP their parenting philosphy was.

Zoe, when are you next in Newcastle? Maybe we could all meet up then? Hope all is going well with your pregnancy. 'Chase', thanks so much for your encouragement, and hope to catch up soon

Hi tobysmum! Glad you enjoyed the ABA meeting.
I should be back down again in a few weeks, I am hoping to make it an ABA meeting soon too. i was really hoping to get to that 'death by chocolate' *drools* meeting but couldn't make it.
