After having spent much energy angry at the articles condoning controlled crying, I was very happy to read this Extra's Cover Story which featured in The Sun-Herald yesterday interviewing Dr Howard Chilton, paediatrician at Royal Hospital for Women. The Extra's cover page read "Baby Brawling: The Sydney doctor taking on the Cruella de Vils of mothercraft" and inside the captions on the double page spread read: "I want parents to enjoy their baby. I call myself a reassurologist." "While the supernannies preach rigid routine, this Sydney pediatrician believes nothing but total devotion to a newborn will give it the right start in life..." "I think the [likes of] Gina Ford are attractive to a small section of the population, usually career women who want their babies to fit into a template." "Educator,,, [ref photo] Howard Chilton addresses parents from one of his regular classes..." Here's a link to a copy of the article: Baby care : no more tears : Essential Baby Parenting Australia |

blah Robin Barker. The only thing I liked her baby book for was resting my feet on when using my rocking chair. Never made it to the toddler one... ENR lots of babies just don't need burping. Neither of mine were particularly windy babies. |

I was told not to bother burping DD, but she was a windy/refluxy baby & seemed to need that bit of help bringing up wind before it travelled lower & caused more pain. As for the article, GO CHILTON!!!! Nice to see this sort of article being published!!! Off to share it on FB |

I just sent a thank you note to the author of this article Catharine Munro via the SMH feedback linkThe Sydney Morning Herald: national, world, business, entertainment, sport and technology news from Australia's leading newspaper. I thought it would be great if a few of us wrote to give her feedback and thanks! |

i love Howard Chilton before i was discharged after DS1 I was instructed to go to his new mums talk at the hospital (even tho it delayed leaving for a few hours and i was desperate to get out of there) it changed everything and gave me a huge boost in dealing with the MIL and all the other nay sayers WRT AP/NP style of parenting
