Question washing colostrum out

Hi all,
I'm currently 19 w preg with my first, and I've had colostrum for a few weeks now. I'm not sure how much is normal, but I have A LOT (enough to stick three layers of bedding together)!!!
I was just about to put the sheets through the wash, when I realised that I have never come across this before. Will it wash out in a normal machine wash, or do I need to treat (ie: soak or something) beforehand?

Thanks in advance

Ummm ... I STILL have colostrum stains in some things after 5 years! I don't use bleach though. Quilters use saliva to get bloodstains out of fabric (you know, when you stick your needle in your finger) so that might be worth a try if you have enough saliva! It has to be your own saliva too, something to do with the protein combination.

Oh dear, and they were new sheets too...
Thanks starbuckozzie, but I think I'd need about a litre of saliva in this case . Google hasn't turned up anything useful, I keep being directed to milking cows and goats.
Well, I guess I'm off to learn about nursing pads , but keep the ideas coming!!!

Wow, that's amazing Lu!
Soak in bi-carb and vinegar?? Or perhaps napisan if you're desperate??
Good luck!

What colour are your sheets?

I am not great with stains, but from memory I recall that washing with cold water is less likely to set the stain than warm or hot.

Yay! All gone!
I finally got a few loads done today in the wintry sunshine. So, for future reference, I soaked the sheet in cold water and vinegar, then scrubbed with some dishwashing detergent. All the marks had disappeared by the time the sheet went in the machine.
I was so relieved. I know it probably sounds a bit trivial, but this was my first ever brand-new bedding, and very exciting. (A house warming present, as dp and I have just moved into our own place.)

Thank you all, for your input.
