Wax on carpet

My property manager has said I need to try and remove a largish lump of green wax on the carpet of our old rental, anybody got any ideas? I'm currently thinking scraping off as much as i can and then carefully laying some paper on top and using an iron to soften it and hope it soaks into the paper instead. Any other suggestions would be grand...

thats what i did. greaseproof paper, iron on top, then soak it up with something. hope it comes out

You can use an icecube on the wax first to harden it. That should make it easier to scrape off, then plain brown paper & a warm iron as many times as is necessary to soak up the rest.

The best way to remove wax from any surface is to place a brown paper bags or some wax baking paper over the wax, then using a hot iron just iron over the wax. It will take it all up straight away.

You're on the right track and I've always found this to work every time.

Fab, looks like that is the way to go then, and just hope the green hasn't stained the carpet too much. It's already been proff cleaned, but it's near a wall and it's a brownish speckly carpet so it should be ok. I thought i had done with the rental but the agent rang up and pointed out half a dozen little picky things I have to go back and do on monday. Most of which will be back in the same condition in a few weeks and are not at all to do with the overall condition of the house. Guess it has to be sparkling for a new tennant... I thought I had already done a great job. To be honest I had been hoping they wouldn't see the wax... after the carpet cleaner said he couldn't do it..

Yes, some can be terribly picky. I lived in one where possums lived in the roof, it was terribly old and descrepit and he picked EVERYTHING when we left.

I nearly cracked it at your property manager when we moved out of a rental a few months ago. She had never seen the house before, and clearly hadn't looked at the initial inspection report because on her list of about 20 things, over half were things on the initial inspection report as being wrong (stains etc).

Well I got most of the wax out, and was even able to return the carpet tufts to looking normal again, but alas since it was a greeny yellowy wax it's left a colour stain. But it's all I can do. There was also a pink/red stain i was unable to shift in one bedroom. From memory it was a result of my light fingered daughters penchant for raw jelly crystals that caused that one. I did pretty much all the other things I forgot, put question marks next to the things I can't actually fix anyway, like a small hole in the screen door that I'm sure was there when we moved in and a slightly mishapen window flyscreen frame that was also previous renters. I hope i've heard the end of it now and my bond will be on it's way.

Does anybody know how long it takes to get the bond back? I've never left a rental before.
