Default That word

Help..my child has just discovered the word 'gross'. Yeah I know I used it heaps myself when I was a kid and drove my Mum to distraction, so now it's payback. Oh and the word "why". Understandable for the age but no less draining. I don't know why H***** had to go to Perth this weekend and can't play with you today. I don't know why it's raining and you can't go outside, it just is.

Ok I just deleted a 10 line paragraph. I won't go there.

I've got a few key phrases that are handy for answering "why?" especially when I'm in the car in peak-hour traffic.
* Why do you think that is?
* Because I said so.
* Because it is.
* Why not?
Questions tend to be a more effective response than anything else, as it requires her to think of an answer herself. And if she's busy answering me, she's not asking me another "why?"

I deflect the "why" back with "what do you think?" a lot...

I usually ask "what do you think"

We are getting "that's stinky poo mum" about everything. I'm now onto the strategy of saying "You know you aren't suppose to say that" and leaving it as he wants to get a reaction out of me, so I give the min about I can.
