Question need compact lightweight stroller... or new car

Hi - I hope this doesn't duplicate a thread... the search function doesn't seem to be working for me. I had a bit of a scroll and couldn't find anything.

DH and I have a Holden Astra, and when the new baby comes, will have two car seats/ capsules in the back seat. Thing is, our anchor points are right at the back of the boot, so when there are two tether straps, we'll be pretty restricted as to what we can angle into our boot.

DH thinks we'll need to get a new car. I really want to avoid it, mostly for financial reasons, but also because we have a smallish car space and I don't want to have to park a bigger car in it.

I can get around most things. We already have our groceries home delivered anyway. But I'm not sure what to do about stroller/pram issue. As a newborn our baby will be slung a lot, I imagine, but I would like to have the option of a stroller either for baby when older or for our toddler.

So I'm looking for a lightweight compact stroller. So much cheaper than new car! Any suggestions? I'm thinking about Maclaren Quest Sport & Maclaren Daytripper (both around 5 kgs, 104cm long when folded) at the moment, but very open to suggestion.

How often do you think you'll use a pram in the beginning? I'd say stick with the slinging as long as you can then go shopping. If you really want to get a pram *right now* the big baby shops are usually very helpful and let you try different models in your car to see which is the best fit or any other options.

FWIW we bought a 3 wheeler that takes up nearly ALL our very generous boot (4WD) and I hardly use it. I used it for public transport and I pop it in the car to go to a friends house so we can walk around her block but it has never gone further than that. Never gone on holidays, rarely goes out with us except as glorified shopping cart - it would have been more practical to get one of those push-along shoppers methinks!

Oh just saw the bit about your toddler. The two models you have mentioned are both ones I've heard good things about but I'd still say go to a really big babyshop and see what other ideas are around.

The mclarens are great. What about those little quickstep stroolers or whatever they're called?

is G big enough to be able to use a booster instead of a car seat? you can get a full body one that uses the car seatbelt, and has an anti submarine clip
