Default Questions about vaccines...

I have a 3 month old who has had no vaccines yet except the vitamin K. While I was pregnant I did alot of research about vaccines and the ingredients scared me, so we decided not to do any. But now my partner wants to give some vaccines. I really don't know much about this so any opinions or advice would be appreciated. Which vaccines should we consider and how long should we delay this? I'm still worried that she could catch something that I could of vaccinated her for but if I do vaccinate her I don't like the idea of putting all those chemicals in her body.

I keep getting quizzed by doctors and nurses about why I haven't vaccinated and then they go on about why I should (which I'm sick of) and my mum going on at me. Anyway any opinions would be great, thanks.

My suggestion:

Look at The Australian Vaccination Network website: Avn.org. I subscribe to it and I get a copy of their magazine called Living Wisdom. They also sell books and packs. You could speak to someone there. The editor is Meryl Dorey and she could give you a run down over the phone. It's worth it.

There was an article in the last edition of Living Wisdom - an interview with Dr Mark Randall, a whistleblower who worked on developing one of the vaccinations. His article summarised a lot of the logic behind not vaccinating. Might be worth buying a copy just to read it. Unfortunately as vaccinations haven't been scientifically tested, long term, etc and adverse reactions appropriately collected, a lot of the evidence against vaccinating is anecdotal. On the flip side, the testing of vaccinations is also flawed and not indicative of a thorough system. It is scientifically flawed.

Vaccinating is not 100% effective and not 100% safe.

As Dr Randall says, what is vital is your general health. In his words, the immune system is: "The entire body, really. Plus the mind. It's all immune system, you might say. That is why you can have, in the middle of an epidemic, those indiviuals who remain healthy."

Arm yourself with some facts and get help from the AVN. Educate yourself on the possible negative effects before you give the shot. There can be negative consequences if you do or don't vaccinate. If you do vaccinate you know you are injecting harmful substances into your child, directly into the blood stream, not passing through the body's immune system. If you don't vaccinate and something happens, then you would have made an informed choice and therefore you will accept the basis of the choice you made.

As Dr Randall says "people need information so that they can choose well. It's one thing to say choice is good. But if the atmosphere is full of lies, how can you choose?"

Definatley do a lot of research before making your decision, as vaccines can have nasty side effects particularly if other people in your family have had reactions to them or there are alergeys in the family. The older your child is before you do them the stronger their immune system and ability to cope will be.
Personally I do not vaccinate and I have never been vaccinated either, or any of my siblings. The reason for this was my mother had bad reactions to them as a child and believes as a result spent most of her life sick (as well as getting measles and chicken pox twice), she is 50 now and has chronic fatigue, thyroid disease, fibro myalga, and some blood disease where her blood cells attack her immune system. All of which are mostely unexplained (she believes all her health problems started from the vaccinations and so does her mother now). One of her specialists believes she has a disease (from a monkey virus) I cant remember what it is called though, that was spread from a vaccine she had as a child. They used to be able to test for it but they won't do the test any more without charging a fee of thousands of dollars.

Sorry this isn't more precise but I am so bad at remembering technical names for things.
I believe in building up the immune system with plenty of fresh air, organic food and dirt and when illness strikes I swear by homeopathics and chinese medicine.
Have you thought of homeoprophylaxis (homeopathic immunisation), also I think if you do decide to vaccinate there are homeopathics you can give at the same time to help their little bodies cope with it better.
I think the library also had some books on it, make sure you read both pro anti anti vacciantion material all you will only get one side of the story.

Yep - thuja is the main one used to counter some of the effects of vax.

Thanks guys! your answers were very helpful, I'm going to look into these homeopathic vaccines. I noticed Amanada wrote about allergies, this has brought up a whole new thing for me to consider as Gracie (our baby) has a high risk of developing allergies. I am allergic to gluten, bananas, green tea, and a chemical of some sort, also I have a dairy intolerance a slight hay fever and these all started developing after I turned 16. I'm woundering if vaccines had anything to do with it, I have been given every vaccine available. Also my partner has allergies too. Thanks again.

I know as times goes on and I keep reading articles, I have more and more confidence in trusting and not interfering with nature. Also we used homoeoprolaxis for whooping cough and visit the naturopath every couple of months to make sure we're on track with general health.

Good luck with it!

i chose not to vax, after weighing up the research and my own experience, i had strong reactions as a child after tetanus, and rubella, fainting, convulsions, and vomiting., it certainly can be a difficult decision to make, especially when choosing not to, with such a pro.vac push out there. My main concern was evidence that vaccinations possibly compromise the immune system, and can lead to numerous subtle or extreme immune system disorders, such as allergies, bowel disorders, asthma, autism, i believe there are many ways to strengthen the immune system against the common childhood illness's.. and am also a believer in the importance of getting sick to build an immune system
