Default we start a new journey

After 9 days of Nate have D's going through 25+ nappies/day i gave in and took him to the hospital.
I had kept on top of his fluid intake and he seemed happy enough in himself but the tummy cramps werent easing so dispite doing everthing i could think of to elimate anything and everything from his diet nothing was helping.

DX he is lactose intorrelant (sp)

didnt come as a great shock to me as i cant handle much dairy although not on a LF diet but DP's sister is.

Just wondering does anybody know of a good LF cookbook?
ive made an appoinment with a dietition but thats not for a little while.

Thanks

Would you like this moved to a cooking sub-forum? Or it can just stay in the Health one, being lactose intolerant is a health issue

I don't use special cookbooks (apart from vegetarian ones), but have had no difficulty cooking dairy free. There are lots of recipes that happen to be dairy free. When they're not dairy free, I replace milk with soy drink, rice milk, goat milk (for my boy who went through a phase of dairy protein intolerance), apple juice, or water. If using apple juice, beware that it's sweet so the recipe will also need less sugar. Dairy free margerine works fine instead of butter, or you can use vegetable oil (you'll need less oil than you would have had in butter). Haven't found a replacement for hard cheese, but you can make a soft cheese from yoghurt, and I've had great success with Tofutti instead of cream cheese in icing for banana cake.

Is he still breastfeeding? because you can get lactase tablets from the health food shop to help in digesting the lactose in breastmilk. I do all the things mentioned above, its pretty easy to substitute dairy in recipes (except for cheese that is).
