Default runny noses

Hi ladies
ive been around to see a friend of mine who has a daughter thats 10mths old and always seems to be sick, DF has tried everything she can think of to help clear her daughters nose up but it just keeps running.
currently shes got broncitis and has had it for roughly the last 4 mths shes been in and out of hospital for it but the doctors cant seem to help it.
She asked if there was anything she could give or do to help with the runny nose?
I said ill ask, shes at the stage where shes willinng to try ANYTHING.
shes going through 4 boxes of tissues a day

its not dust or an allergy we dont think any advice would be nice she has tried everything the chemist has to offer with no joy

Cheers

Is she on solids?? Runny noses and problems like that can actually be signs of food intolerances.

If she's breastfeeding I would suggest eating plenty of garlic herself, as I think it comes through the milk.

I never thought about food issues, i know shes having the "only oganic" food range so ill see if we can find the source there.

A visit to a homoeopath should help, too

If she's on solids then, try eliminating foods to find the culprit. You'll need to go right back to basics. Good luck!! Pm me if you'd like a hand.

My eldest DD had a runny nose for the longest time that stopped after a visit to an osteo. It was really weird to see this nose which I had become accustomed to seeing running literally stop overnight.

Our DD was a very healthy bub but got sever gastro at 15 months and could just not recover her immunity - always lethargic, tired and not full of the joys as we had been used to. Hospital was great -tested for everything, paed fantastic - said 'there is definately something wrong with her immunity, but western medicine doesn't have all the answers and we don't know what it is - hopefully she'll grow out of it'. It was nice to hear confirmation that we weren't crazy, but frustrating to think that we should just 'wait it out'. She had developed bad dermatits by time too.

We then took her to a chinese herbalist on the off chance that it may help (DH VERY skeptical at this stage and me slightly open, slightly skeptical too). Well... she had a severe reaction - skin very inflamed and she was extremely hot and sweaty but complaining of being cold. But... she was much improved!!!Chinese doc said to back off to every second day, which we did. and over the course of the next few motnhs, he adjusted her herbs and she just got better and better. Even my MIL commented that Daisy seemed better (not knowing that she was taking chinese med), when she had previously expressed a lot of doubt that anything was wrong. She was intolerant to dairy (cows milk) before, which we knew, but we have since discovered she is also reactive to citrus and sesame. We think there are other things ( she gets red around the mouth and sometimes gets a bit of dermatitis) that she is reactive to as well. We are slowly working at finding them (by elimination and retesting)

Sorry, I take a long time to get to the point! But, my advice is 'don't give up!'.. keep working at it and you will find what it is. You just know in your heart when something is not quite right with your child. Don't try everything at once though as it will confuse you and you won't know what works and what doesn't.

Best of luck
xx

I would suggest a visit to a good naturopath? many gentle herbs are available for little ones. sounds possibly like weak immune system issues?, has she taken courses of antibiotics in hospital? they can cause imbalance in a sensitive system, as can in some sensitive individuals vaccinations, and interesting new research I heard second hand yesterday about a possible corellation in the overuse of panadol relating to the rise in asthma, which is said to be a disorder of the immune system.
