Illness and impending 16 hr flight.

G has been quite ill over the last two weeks, including fainting spells, vomiting and fever that had her admitted to hospital. She seemed a lot better until we went to a birthday party yesterday where her temp soared and she complained of dizziness.

Last night it climbed quite high and she was just not herself at all and now today she is still warm but at least playing. She has also had a cough over the last couple of days.

E is recovering from (diagnosed) flu herself. She was down for a couple of weeks with that.

We are supposed to be returning to Dubai on Wednesday, a 16 hour flight and DH will have quite a bit of business travel to do right away when we get home.

Otherwise we can stay here for another month, when DH will come back to fly home with us (I flew over solo with them, but would prefer to have back up on the way home)

I really miss Dubai and being in our place but I don't think it is a good idea to fly with the girls in a time of convalescence.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Should I stay and have ANOTHER month away from DH to give the girls time to fully recover or should we just go?

Well you know my immediate (and selfish) answer

Perhaps though you should wait another day or so to see how she is, whether or not her temp spikes again and how she is re dizziness.
Perhaps too though because you will be on your own when you get back it might be a good idea to wait until they are both fully recovered.
I'm not much help am I? Let me ponder a bit more!!!!!

Tough one, heh?

If it were me, I too would wait until the very last minute that I had to make a definitive decision. Then, if little ones still don't seem well, I'd stay. If DH is going to be travelling when you get home ... you may not see him much in that month anyway???

We are staying. I just can't put the girls through a long flight while they are getting over these bugs.

The airline is letting us change without penalty and DH has not claimed his free flight from his employer yet this year so can use that in a month when he comes to get us.

I think you've made a good decision Lisa. Can't wait to see you, G&E back here & in good health in a month. I'm so sorry to hear G is still not well.

Good decision. If the dizziness is related to middle ear issues, the flight could have been horrid for your girl.
Hope you can make the most of another month here.

Yep, wait another month. Minor illness, like a cold or something, as long as they were over it i would go, but sounds like they were quite ill, being exposed to goodness knows what on international travel is the last thing they need.

Bad timing though huh?

Thanks everyone.

On the upside it will be lovely to have some extra time with our loved ones. Also, I have not seen one of my closest friends in almost 2 years and she will be back here in SEQ early October. It will be wonderful to see her again and to hear all her gossip as she is the nanny for a big celeb.
