Best Nappy Rash Cream
Hi all, I'm new here. Just wondering what your preferred nappy rash cream is? I would like to use something natural but whatever works really... my boy has a bit of a rash that keeps coming and going...
Thanks in advance.

Re: Best Nappy Rash Cream
Calendula ointment. I use one from Moonhaven in Cowaramup, but there are others. Sometimes at night if she's had a bit of rash I'll put on a layer of calendula and then a layer of the basic white nappy cream to protect.
I also find good old pawpaw does the trick.
Nice to see you here!
Em

Re: Best Nappy Rash Cream
Camomile tea for sure. It works for our hideous nappy rash that Josie gets. That and plenty of nappy free time and bum waving at the sun! Every nappy change wash the bottom with something chemical free like the tea or even plain ol water. I used a mix of water, lavendar, and hemp oil for Josie. She really suffered with ulcerated weeping sores on her bottom and it worked really well for her.
And for a bit extra protection, calendula for sure or paw paw.

Re: Best Nappy Rash Cream
On the girls, I found that they needed a barrier cream. Zinc based creams worked well. They really only got rashy if they sat in a wet nappy for way too long, or did a poo and it wasn't changed RIGHT THIS MINUTE. It got better when I realised tomato and citrus were making their output more acidic.
Billy gets excema in the nappy area, and I've tried a lot of different creams. I like paw paw ointment (Simmons brand has no petroleum jelly in it), and a home-made cream from a friend based on shea butter and calendula and chamomile. He cried when I put some of the expensive brand organic nappy creams on him. MIL says macadamia oil is good on FIL's excema (he gets it on his hands) but I keep our oil bottle in the kitchen so haven't tried it yet.
Keep in mind that the cream that works well on one baby will not work well on another. I've always had more success with prevention than with cure. Frequent nappy changes, stay-dry liners (I like polar fleece in cloth nappies), and regular bum-out time to get air on it.

Re: Best Nappy Rash Cream
I used to swear by paw paw but now I think that the best one is Natures Child Bottom Balm.
Ingredients are:
Certified Organic Sweet Almond Oil
Certified Organic Olive Oil
Certified Organic Beeswax
Certified Organic Calendula
Pure Vitamin E Oil (not synthetic)
Grapefruit Seed Extract (preservative)
Certified Organic Comfrey
Certified Organic Chammomile essential Oil
Certified Organic Lavender essential Oil
It's awesome. I put a little dab on at the very first red mark and Laila has never had bad nappy rash even through all of her teething. I love it and will be buying it for every new mum I know. They sell it at Babies Galore which is at our local mall so it makes it easy for me to buy but you can get it online too.
Cheers,

Re: Best Nappy Rash Cream
i have found that creams dont work well on Cj at all. I use cornflour. i think that keeping the area dry this way clears it up quicker.

Re: Best Nappy Rash Cream
I've been making my own. Easier than I thought - it just contains beeswax, olive oil, calendula petals and some essential oils. There are commercial creams available which contain similar ingredients.
There's a recipe here: http://www.vintageremedies.com/vr/in...e-ones/nursery
