Question Endometriosis: Natural remedies wanted

Hello All,

I have suffered from irregular, heavy, excruciating periods since my menarche at age 11. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at age 18 and since then have tried just about every conventional treatment known to womankind!

Last Friday I underwent my 3rd laparoscopy/D&C etc. This time however, I elected to have a Mirena IUD inserted. However, after my gyno had burnt off the endo and cut out a polyp he perforated the top of my uterus! So, now I must wait 5 weeks before the Mirena can be inserted.

Does anybody suffer from endo and have a Mirena?

I am also open to any other suggestions of natural remedies.

Thanks
Catherine

I'd be trying www.massattack.com.au or www.sharkeyshealingcentre.com.au for online treatment (herbal medicine to balance hormones, regardless of weight or fertility).

Otherwise, head straight to a Naturopath to get a program sorted out. Conventional medicine is pretty useless when it comes to endo, PCOS, etc - so find someone who specialises in women's hormones.

I got rid of my endo with naturopathy. There are a few really important herbs and vits such as vitex, fish oil, dong quai, Vit E etc but see a naturopath for a more personalised list.

I know of several women who got pg or got rid of endo with naturopathy. I agree that traditional medicine is uselss with endo.

Hi Catherine

You poor thing! That must be awful! I agree - to me western me has its place but it usually addresses the symptoms not the cause. So... I thought I would offer some anecdotal stories about how Magnesium has helped me with period pain and PMS and my sister in law with endo.

I radically changed my diet a couple of years ago from acidic to alkaline which involved mass consumption of raw food, especially greens. This had a major impact on all aspects of my LIFE, for which I am eternally grateful... but one of the wonderful 'side affects' was loss of ALL period pain!! When I mentioned this to the naturopath he suggested it was probably because I was eating a lot of magnesium (via lots of greens - magnesium is to plants as iron is to us - vitally important for transporting oxygen around the systems). He said magnesium is a great muscle relaxant (which also explained my complete loss of back and neck pain). Sometimes I slacken off the diet and sure enough - period pain! However... I have recently purchased a cold press juicer so that I can have green juice every morning, and this has made getting mass quantities of greens in a lot easier. I FEEL ON TOP OF THE WORLD!

My lovely, US based, sister in law suffered for many years with many interventions as you have... and after talking to her about the naturopath's comments about magnesium, she said her naturopath had put her on magnesium supplements as part of her treatment. She has eliminated (as I have) quite a lot of foods from her diet and I think her naturopath has her on a few different herbs and things but she has had fantastic results...

Good luck
Louise xx
