conjunctivitis remedies

Hello,

DD keeps getting conjunctivitis with every cold she gets. Shes 16 months. Not red eyes or anything like that - just gunk. Ive hard camomile swabs are good. Any other tips for treating this naturally?

Yes, cammomile or even regular black tea is astringent enough for the purpose. Look for eye bright tincture or even dried eyebright herb for making tea (looks like green tea) at the health food store. It will definitely help with early stages of conjunctivitis

Or if you're breastfeeding, a bit of milk in the eye is supposed to work wonders.

Breastmilk in the eye works well in our house for early stages.
Other things that make a difference for us are frequent wiping with a wet washcloth, and careful hygiene. Frequent hand washing, only using a wash cloth once then throwing it in the nappy bucket (everything in the bucket gets washed in hot water instead of cold).

Funny - we have just been through this horrid gunk the last couple of weeks. We have used homeopathics successfully and chamomile tea compresses.

I was going to say breastmilk too - I worked well for DD when she had gunky eyes

My younger son had sever conjunctivitis a couple of years ago. I found homeopathics to work wonders. His eyes were clear within the day! Probably best prescribed by a homeopath to get the right constitutional remedy.
