Default Jamie Oliver Special

Anyone watch it?

I think I am going to bow out now before the disection.

Will be back tomorrow to discuss if anyone else is interested.

I watched it and feel weird....i feel sick with what they showed however in a way im glad they did and hope it hits home to alot of people. I was sitting there thinking im so glad i eat really good and Jamie was saying so many of the things that i believe and do and am lucky enough to know at a young age. In saying that i learnt so much too like why stomach fat is so bad. i was only saying to DH yesterday just because someone is skinny does not mean they are healthy!!!
I have been so against instant processed food ect and watching something like this only makes me believe even stronger that im doing the right thing (which im sure many on NP will be exactly the same).
It was so full on i cant wait to hear what everyone else thought!!!

I just kept taking deep breaths - thankful that although I am obese, I can still fill my lungs all the way down. Just reinforces the changes I started making 2 weeks ago. Just have to get more exercise now!

I watched it. Normally, I roll my eyes a bit at these things. I actually liked this one...I thought it was better than other shows/specials that preach the same message. I think it explained things pretty well, taking the effort to explain what, where, why and how in a way that is easy to understand.

I wish DP could have watched it (he was in bed). He tends to eat whatever. 'If it tastes good, eat it' is kinda his motto.

Oh, I missed it! Sounds like it was quite interesting! I don't mind Jamie Oliver, I used to think he was just an over exposed celebrity chef. But he's been doing some good with his fame, like 15 and his school dinners idea.
Will have to watch out for it next week!

He has another show next wwek about chickens and eggs looks really interesting! I wish my DH watched it as well he is like the guy who is a vegetarian but a bad vegetarian and i really do worry how DH eats but he refuses to eat like the rest of us its really annoying!!
I liked they way they explained things like what the good fats do (help wash away the bad fats that are stuck) ect. Ive always known to eat the good fats there good for you but never really knew why!
I feel really good today knowing im on the right track, i just need to still loose some weight thru exercise!!!!

I loved it. I wish my DP could watch. I tried to discuss with him as he has a very 'American' diet and is overweight.might even be obese. He came back with yeah I know all this.... but to SEE it is another thing!

Autopsy was just wow. I am squeamish but was glad I watched. Amazing. I hope it is aired again.

Here is a link from youtube

http://youtube.com/watch?v=NTZaKyI6zFI

It is the part about sausages. What they used to me made of and what supermarket ones are made from now.

I'm also usually really squeamish, but I found all the autopsy stuff amazing- especially seeing how the fat had deposited in the muscle.

Oh no, don't tell me I missed it! I saw it advertised and thought it would be great to watch and learn something. I love Dr Oz from Oprah too because he talks about our bods and how they work in such a sensible way that I was really looking forward to this.

Hope it's repeated.

I ended up sticking around for the disection. I just couldn't turn it off. That poor man with the huge heart and tiny lungs. When the Dr said he probably could not even take a few steps without panting I really felt for him.

Like you Bethany and skn, I really wish DH had watched it. He is taking steps to improve his fitness, but he does it every few years then falls off the wagon. I fear he is diabetes and other sad things just waiting to happen

For such a squeamish show, I really enjoyed it and like Jamie's presentation style. I was kind of shocked to learn that Special K has so much more sugar than it used to and the other things he talked about with food changing. Oh and the goose fatty liver thing

Another one that has made an impact was showing how easy it can be to pack on the kgs with the example from the dance teachers diet of a cappucino (or whatever) and some chips per day. I ordered a skinny cap today

I would be interested to get my fat levels checked and have some blood tests to see where my colesterol etc is.

The chicken one next week will probably be really sad too. We only eat organic eggs and very little chicken.
