Earache calling for alternatives
Hi all.
this is the first earache for my nearly 4 yr old. started about a week ago have been to the doctor either outer or middle ear infection could not really tell they gave me drops (are still in box) have been taking homeopathic rems as directed by my homeopath pulsatilla belladonna and sillica at different intervals. not to sure how long to let it go for, the ear has puss (no smell) and is oozie no pain no temp. have tried to search out other options and but they don't have much information other that antibiotics and grommet info.
just wondering if anyone else has had or has had children with this and what did they do and how long it takes to heal.
it is his right side no other symptoms other than a runny nose only right nostril and runny ear. ???????
i am doing an oil called solverarom into the ear and a little massage, i have read all the other threads as well.

Re: Earache calling for alternatives
I would pierce a garlic oil capsule and put it in his ear. It is a failsafe remedy here that was recommended by my homeopath. It is warming and soothing and is anti-bacterial so kills a lot of the bugs. Do put a towel on the pillow before he goes to bed though, it gets smelly

Re: Earache calling for alternatives
Are you totally sure the eardrum isn't burst? If it is burst, don't put anything it the ear.
If you know the eardrum is fine, another thing to try is onion juice - some people use straight onion juice. I have heated onion pieces with olive oil and after infusing for a while, used the olive oil in the ear. Just lie on that side for a while so it sits in there.

Re: Earache calling for alternatives
The oil or drops or whatever you put in goes into the ear drum which I gather is really serious - I'm sure your doctor wouldn't have given you drops if it was burst when he saw it, but the pus doesn't sound good. How about phoning your doctor and asking?

Re: Earache calling for alternatives
yes i just have rung the doctor. when i took him to the hospital wednesday night the doctor said he couldn't see right into his ear and did not know wheather it was and outer or a middle there was fluid coming out but sort of clearish. gave me drops and told me not to use them after 7 days as it damages the hearing and the eardrum so i thought i would wait a bit and see if it cleared up itself. it seemed to stop for a few days, started again sat night but a different colour.
now i am feeling really terrible, and mean, and worried.

Re: Earache calling for alternatives
try not to feel terrible or mean - waiting to see what is happening, particularly if it's getting better, is often the best thing to do. Hope it clears soon.

Yep - garlic oil, stuff with cotton wool & lay with the head on a hot water bottle.
