Default red eyebrows

DS has been rubbing his eyes a bit the past few days and now he has a nasty red rash around his eyebrows, i've been using some skin soothing lotion from gaia baby but it doesn't seem to be helping, any recommendations?

I guess it depends on why his eyebrows have a red rash. Do you think it is just from the rubbing? Or could it be an allergic reaction of some kind?
We have always used paw-paw ointment for any kind of rash in our house and it works a treat.
Hope he feels better soon

Quite common in young bubbies. Maybe try some plain olive oil to stop the skin drying out. Calendula cream might help, too.

oh dear, today it looks worse :( nothing i have tried seems to be making a difference! i have used paw paw salve all day yesterday and it didn't seem to do anything, so then i tried calendula cream in the evening...nothing

i'm pretty sure it started off from the rubbing, but now he has some on his cheeks too, ds is still EBF and i don't think i've eaten anything different lately

argh, what happened to my baby's beautiful face!

i don't knowif its worth taking him to a doctor because they will probably just give me steroid cream?

At around 4ish months my lo had excema - thats what the doctor said anyway, and yes gave him a steriod cream. It was actually really bad and slightly infected so I did use the tiniest amount for a couple of days just to clear it up, as well as a antiboctic cream. This happened in winter too. Once it was a bit better, we moisturized up to 10 times a day, limiting baths (seem to make it worse) and it cleared up. We only ever had one more break out, and that was probably close to a year ago. I also suspected me eating peanuts made it worse.
I would go to the doctors and see what they say - at least you will know what you are dealing with, you don't have to follow their advice or can seek a second opinion. Because its on the cheeks as well, it sounds like its more than what you first suspected.
Good luck

well i called his MCN this morning and she came out to see, she thinks its probably a bit of eczema, said to just keep doing what i'm doing and if its not clearing in a few days or it gets worse then go to the dr who will most likely prescribe the steroids type cream. i'm using the gaia baby skin soothing lotion but since u mention moisturising i might alternate between that and the moisturiser, hope it helps!

i think its not helping that he keeps rubbing it grrr why don't they make baby straight jackets

my ds has a shower most of the time and a bath maybe once or twice a fortnight, should i shower him less often?

he's teething also, could this be inflaming it?

Hope it all sorts out real soon. If it is excema soap will inflame it so its best to try to stick to non-soap based products when bathing him.

yea our body wash is soap free i have always been aware of the dangers of soap, my lil sister had/has eczema too, so i've been super careful with products that get used on him!

this is the one i've been using and have been using it for over 2 months without problems so doubt that's the cause but thanks for thinking of it!

my DH thinks i am mental for avoiding all the "commercial" type products packed with chemicals you can't even pronounce, i'm glad i did though it could have been much worse! and now i have a good case for delaying and being very selective and slow when introducing solids (much to my inlaws disgust!!!) but now DH will side with me i think! so hopefully some good can come of this.
