Default organic clothing

Just lettibng you know that Target "organic"range in NOT organic. I have a letter from Target stating they made "a business decision to call it organic' ! Also most goods including clothing from China will be fumigated with methly bromide or acetyl oxide...the latter affects the nervous system of children...also many companies stating to have organic clothing are fumigated...ask teh question..if they do not answer you have your answer Mary Naturopath

Oh dear. I remember reading in a magazine a few years ago that organic was going to become a huge marketing tool.

That is terrible.

Even if it was 'organic' it's still made overseas (probably by minimum wage chinese labour), and as such requires loads of pollution and natural resources to get it to the stores where we buy it. Kinda negates the purpose.

Hmmmm....interesting. I'm sure a tag on an "organic" clothing item from Target gave a website where you could 'follow the journey' of the product. (ETA: this was greensource, but maybe they're not using them any more?)

Looking into it a bit further, apparently the fabric is sourced in Aus, but yes, all made in China.

They're listed as an "ethical retailer" on Homeworkers Code of Practice - No Sweat Shop label , but as that covers Australian-manufactured clothing, I guess they might get around that by having things manufactured off-shore?
