Cool journey back to the 'crunchy' and organic life!

I was going to post this in the journals section but i decided some other mumma's might like to join me, and also i may need hints and ideas along the way.

SO....in the last six months i have let our kaotic life get the better of me and have become a little more 'mainstream' and just generally lazy when is comes to a lot of things around the house and in our lives.

With things like, not using cloth naps 100% of the time. Using disposible wipes. Using pre-made frozen dinnners and some jared baby foods. buying products without checking for better organic and ausie made brands. etc etc.

I figure i have a fair way to go, and would actually like to go even more crunchy than i was by also doing things like using washable mummy pads, and making my own cleaners and things, and planting a new herb and veg garden.

But it will all be one step at a time!!

So this going to be a bit of a record of getting me back on track.

Feel free to join me in any area, and also give me ideas and hints on things.

I'll join you! It will keep me motivated to always look for the cleaner, greener choices.
My current dilemma: floor cleaner that gets off caked-on weet-bix but doesn't make the floor sticky once it's dry.

So the first steps i have taken this week;
I bought a whole new bunch of terry toweling washers, as the old ones had mostly been chucked away after getting mouldy from me not washing them quick enough. They will be used for hand and face wipping for CJ. And when we go out i have a little bag i reuse to put one in(wet).
**reminder to self...DON'T FORGET ABOUT WASHING THE WASHERS!!!

I was going to start back on full time MCN's this week, but with all the rain and the fact that they can't go in the dryer, i think i will leave this one for once the sun comes out....there i go being lazy again..but i do have a whole bunch of eco nappies to use so i may as well use them before CJ grows out of them anyway.

The other thing i got back into this week is buying lots of fresh fruit and veg for CJ. I had been using some organic jar brand most of the time, as he still needs really mushed foods and doesnt like most of the things i cook for dinner.

But we have a very good cooker that will steam veg while rice or beans/lentils cook underneath, so there is no more excuses for not cooking up CJ's dinner fresh every second night with some extra for the next night.
Will cook up fruit weekly and put in icetrays for his breakfast(he eats it mixed with weetbix or porriage).
And mush up fresh fruits for lunch.
***note to self - use veg from our dinner's for CJ's dinners where possible.

My sister asked me today about shopping at our local markets, so we have decided that we will both buy a cheap 'nanna trolley'* and go together once a fornight.

*I used to have a 'nanna trolley' but the day we bought Cj home from the hospy i pulled it out of the car and dropped it, the wheel and frame broke as it smashed on the driveway.

Enjo great for floors. If you spray water on the weetbix, then start mopping, by the time you get to the weetbix it will be loose enough to come off easily.

Yep, my vote is for hot, hot water and a good mop. I also use earths choice wool wash if things are really icky. Or hot water and metho for tiles and wooden floors

I clean caked on food with my enjo outdoor duoglove, then mop properly with the floor fibre. Easy peasy. I really wish I had invested in proper Enjo years ago.

Good luck on your crunchy journey R'ee.

ohh.. will be watching with interest..

trying to make a few changes as well

my floor seems to always have dried something on it.. I just mop with hot water and euclaptist oil.. but before I start I spray some water onto the dried stuff.. seems to come off easily enough then.
