Interesting. I agree he should have donated his things to charity, but the statement of destroying them is significant I suppose.......

Then there's this factor:

Day 125

A trends prediction magazine drops through the door. It has picked up on my story. According to the article, I will be among 2007's key trend drivers in a minority swing towards Nu Austerity, a resurging conscience culture that will facilitate a rise of thrift chic. Twelve months ago, I would have been proud to feature in a trends dossier such as this, my opinions validated. Now I feel rather depressed and angry that my little crusade has so quickly become a marketing tool to sell more stuff.

I am intrigued by the consumerism that exists, even in many so called "non consumerist" circles that I run in. Ergo is a brand that quickly comes to mind

I feel I should mention that I am by no means perfect myself. A quick scan of my shoe shelf alone shows up Converse (times 2), Birkentsock (times 2), Blundstone, Puma and New Balance!!!

Wow, what an interesting read. It seems he has no awareness of fringe dwellers - people who make conscious decisions each day based on their brand consumption, amongst other things. Hopefully this will trigger an awakening for him of alternatives to the norm, the trendy. There are so many other options in life, maybe he needs to move out of the city, get a bit more self sustainable, breath some fresh air, then perhaps he can find some balance?

The fire burning seemed attention getting to me *shrug*

He should have donated to charity.
