Default Budgeted organic foods!

Hey! I am interested in switching over to natural / organic diet as my doctor says that I should as soon as I can. I am looking for affordable natural or organic food to cure myself as I do not have too much money. Someone please help me out! Thanks!

Welcome Alexander. It's pretty hard to help you out without knowing your location. But my suggestion would be to see if you can find a CSA (community supported agriculture) project in your area. This way you are supporting local farmers and also getting affordable (usually organic) produce. The cheapest way to buy organic pantry items is usually in bulk via a coop or similar, so have a search and see if you can find any of those nearby too.

Consider growing a lot of your supplementary foods in your own garden. Things like cherry tomatoes, lettuce, herbs, silverbeet, chinese greens, varieties of peas and beans grow almost anywhere and in almost anything. This way you save money for some of the more essential organic foods that you can't easily grow at home.

There are many, many discussions on this forum about going organic, about growing vegetables, about sourcing organic produce, about buying co-operatively. Just shout out and mods/admin and membership will be there to help you.

Safeway have cheap organic jams, only $2.99 each and coles and safeway have cheap priced sugar, flour, milllet meal, rice, milk and a few other things. If you live in Melbourne I know a really cheap place to buy veg in Elwood.

On the weekend we stopped at one of those NQR grocers to get a bag of chips (which they didn't have) but they had all this organic food -muesli, jams, cocoa, bread sticks. It was just a small one but they have them all over the place and they sell old stock I think but it was all super cheap

Grow your own organic vegies! If you have enough room, get some chooks. The eggs are very nutritious and they make lots of manure for your organic vegie garden. If you don't have a garden, you can grow vegies in styrofome boxes anywhere, or join a community garden.
I get some of my organic things (pasta sauce, maple syrup etc) from coles because it's cheaper than the organic grocer. Overall I still find buying organic better value because we don't lose money on getting sick and going to the doctor all the time.

My DH and I looked into CSA, but it is too expensive for us. As of now, I just grow my own herbs. This summer we are buying a house and will turn our backyard into a garden. I can't wait!!!
