Brisbane water rates cost?
Hi.. I am renting at the moment and the owner has stipulated that I will have to pay for the water on the rates bill which is in excess of $100 - for just regular usage. I have been asking the estate agents for copies of prior rates bills to see how much water the previous tenants used (just 2 people like us now) but they haven't provided them. So can anyone tell me please their water cost usage per quarter who lives in Brisbane? Ta

I find it hard to believe that you could possibly have exceeded the limit. I've lived in share houses where there where 4-5 people and never have we had excess issues. Does sound very suss huh?! Sorry, can't help you with the cost thing (renter here as well).

My last excess water charge was under $30. I do know that they can charge for water, but only for the excess water I believe. There is a water access charge on my bill as well, but I don't think they could charge you for that.

I know.. it is all very dodgy.. it isn't for excess water - just normal water usage!!! So if the water usage (non excess) is $150 per quarter - the owner expects me to pay $50. We have been tooing and froing about it for ages now.. giving me the shits

I'd call the RTA and ask them if they can do that. I don't believe they can.

Also, if they expect you to pay it, I don't see how they could get away with not showing you the bill!
