Wow, I dont know Kathi. It would be interesting to find out though. Mind you, the amount of water you use if you have a top loading machine is scary. I would guess that my old one would use (on a small load) about 50lts per cycle. That would be where most people's water usage goes I would say.

We used waaaaaay to much last Summer, I'm ashamed to say. Just today I had to re teach my almost 15 year old DD how to turn the tap on to wash her face I try to conserve water with washing nappies by doing the maxi wash rather than filling it for a rinse cycle and then refilling it for the wash cycle. My machine only fills once through all 4 cycles. I use the economy option on my dishwasher and only use it when it is filled to the brim. I dry pail |

Since doing the toilet flushing with washing/bath water, I have realised that it uses around 6ltrs for a single flush and around 9 for a full flush

I can't remember what it said on the bill in my last house but it was always in the smallest section - 2 people, no garden I think was the description. That's pretty good for 3 people, one in cloth nappies, I think I'll be watching with interest having bought a superduper low water usage dishwasher that fits most of the kitchen in it at one time!

I cant remember either but its not much, however being preg I have been flushing alot lately, We have a water tank though which is filling up just as we speak,. we use that water for most of our water needs, such as garden, drinks for the pets and washing the car. We are big water savers here!!!

Unfortunately I don't really know. We live in a unit, and don't have individual water metres (or at least, that's how I decipher our bill), so I just get a percentage of the whole block's water usage. I'm not as good as I should be though, something I'm working on at the moment.

I don't know because we're renting, but we try to save water (restrictions 3 - scary). We tap when we're showering and use the water for the garden as well as the water of the washing machine. My machine uses 56 ltr a wash. I wash salads and vegetables in a bowl and use the water for the garden. It would be much easier if we had two tanks - one for greywater and one for rainwater - but we're renting. In australian national geograph there was a very interesting article about water - I don't know which issue. Perhaps I should read the water meter a week to know how much water we use. |
