Exclamation 10 months old and still on my hip.

Hi I was just wondering if anyone knows a very friendly and no crying technique to help me with my ten month old son!! I have to hold him every minute of every day and now he is getting heavier and miss 2 misses her mummys cuddles!! He can crawl but just flattly refuses to be put down and I love cuddles but all day is a bit excessive!! I was just wondering if any one had any ideas that could help me to make him a bit more happier to play on the floor for a little bit!! any advice is welcome.

Holding bubs all day long can be quite tiring....and I find it even more tiring if they aren't in a sling. Do you have one you use?

Maybe popping him in the sling to give you the hands that your DD needs. He may even be happy to go on your back (I find the back position easiest for me to get things done - like typing as I am right now, even )

You could try popping him the on the floor with you and DD and playing with him?

What type of toys do you have for him? Instead of the conventional try some blown up baloons or paper that crinkles and makes heaps of noise. You could also try one of those inflateable pool with lots of balls, sit him in it and have him play in there.

back carry worked really well for us.

it may be difficult now, but it sure does pay back later on (at least it has for us )

although back carry doesnt work for every child. DS for example has only recently decided it is ok to be behind mummy, and even now he only stays there for maybe 30 minutes (he is 17 months old). have you tried a hip carrier? there are several available that are quite comfy. DS is 14kg & i carry him in a sling on my hip often.

getting down on the floor to do fun things is also a good plan - what sorts of things is your little one interested in? our DS has always been into "vrooms" so playing with cars etc on the floor interested him. pegs was also a favourite at that age. i remember tho that he went thru a period where he wanted to be carried more often than not - tiring at the time, but it has now passed & he just wants to get down & run run run!

does he like his high chair? My little one likes to be in his while I am cooking, so he can see everything going on.

Do you like the hip carry but just want your hands free? If so, you can use a bed sheet. Video on YouTube. A ring sling is also good for hip carries with lots of up-down.
