My husband was on a plane the other day and got talking to the lady next to him who was a teacher and she was reading an article about discipline and how NOT to talk to your kids. It was all very much along the same vein as what most of us try to put into practise as np mums. So he was excited at this, event though when we can string together a few minutes to talk, I have tried to educate him on the finer points of gentle guidance.
Anyway, that was a couple of days ago and today he told me that he ordered a book off the net, from the Aba website to delve into this further. He ordered "parenting for a peaceful world"...YAY YAY YAY YAY!!
I'm always trying to get him to read "stuff" as ive had to "train" him on the benefits of co-sleeping etc. He's a terrific dad, very attentive, very loving, rarely gets angry, but has certainly restled with his VERY mainstream upbringing. He has always allowed me to take the lead though as he sees me as very stable, levelheaded and happy, whereas he for a very long time struggled with extreme anxiety and sought help for it.
I'm just very proud of him for taking the lead this time and what a great book!
