Default I left my yoghurt sitting too long!

I woke up this morning realising that I'd left my yoghurt sitting for nearly 24 hours in its warm place. No longer warm of course! I suspect I'm going to have to throw it out but does anyone know for sure? It still smells okay....

I should imagine it would be fine to eat if you consume it soon.

In my experience yoghurt goes lumpy/gritty, or develops bubbles and a fizzy taste if it is off.

Is it easiyo yogurt? Do you find it's harder to get it to set properly in the winter? I can only do it if I do it during the day. But I keep forgetting and whiz up a batch in the evening and wonder why it's still runny in the morning. Too cold I guess. I try emptying out and topping up with hottish water again but it still doesnt' work.

As for leaving it 24 hours, I might probably throw it out, even if it seemed ok, I wouldn't want to eat it, in case it wasn't, 24 hours might be ok but much more than that. probably not. And definately not in the summer time, since it's winter it would be different. . I've done it too, you're not the only one!!

No, not Easiyo. It's a glass jar in a fitted polystyrene case. I got it from an organic shop in Singapore. Equal success in both winter and summer (but I put it in a - relatively - warm room in winter).

I was a bit surprised when I found out the cost of making Easiyo recently. Although my organic shop sells the packets they say it's not organic and I can buy the ingredients for organic yoghurt more cheaply.

Forgot to say that I tried the yoghurt and it is the nicest one I've made. Very reminiscent of King Island stuff. I haven't let anyone else try it yet but I imagine we will have to eat it fast as Jodie says!

I've eaten forgotten yoghurt fairly often - it goes a bit more sour, but otherwise okay. Smell is often a good indication of whether or not to eat something...

I've used easyyo in the past but agree that I can get organic for lot cheaper, and I'm a bit suss about powered milk products tbh. And making just straight yoghurt so easy anyway, not as if easyo makes it easier or more convenient.

Okay, three days later the yoghurt is starting to smell a little strange. So it definitely doesn't keep as long!
