Default Which covers for all round use?

Hi I really need help deciding what covers to get.
I have 3 bambino mio prefolds covers with 6 cotton inserts.
I also have some old terry flats from ds I was thinking of using cut up as boosters or prefolds,
I have 6 bamboo inserts from (peapods pocket nappies that will be too big for a while) and 2 boosters as well as some other boosters from some aio's.
I have 12 fitted cotton nappies that need covers, so I was hoping to get some more covers I can use over these but also use with prefolds if I need too, more so in the smaller sizes as once bub grows into my peapods (size medium, but fitted ds until he was toilet trained) I can use those.
Any advice would be appreciated as I used flats with Ds.

I wasn't aware of MCNs and the great options available for covers until my youngest was 6 months. When I discovered the great covers I had a bummis cover, a whizz kids cover and several woollen soakers/longies/shorties that went over our flats.

I've heard good things about BBH covers too.

What size are the covers you have? You probably don't need more than about 5 covers for a new baby.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links so I'm erring on the side of caution and not putting links.

Hope I've helped.

Wool is the best for all-round use IMO

I am possibly very biased being an avid knitter, but wool covers are fantastic! DD2 was about 8 months before I tried them. In the past I had been reluctant because I get the itchies from some wools but once DD tried her first longies on, I was hooked.

There are some nice trim wool soakers about, like the BBH Melanie has said, and of course all the gorgeous handknits or you can eve make your own bum jumpers.

Before we tried wool we mainly used pockets or PUL covers. Every PUL cover she owned has since been gifted.

I haven't tried wool covers, I ones I use are the Baby Beehinds. I've used them over flats and a few different others. They are really nice and breathable, not as pretty as others but they've never ever leaked and they are not plasticy at all.

I've used PUL and wool covers from BBH. I really like the wool ones for all round use, although I did find the elastic did not last well in the BBH ones. I used PUL for day, and wool mainly for night but no reason it can't be used day and night.

I love a variety of covers.

Can't go past wool, I especially love these for night time use.

But good work horse covers, I love my BBB PUL, Thristies and Bummis. These have contained everything Brock has thrown at them.

I like wool, but it gives my boy excema. Also my kids are explosive poopers, which means having to wash the covers frequently, and I found wool a PITA for frequent washing.

With my kids, I used either a pocket nappy without the insert in it. Just laid the prefold or a natural fibre insert - microfibre no good as it absorbs body oils and dries out the skin - on top. Or I used a Bumwear cover because they have two layers of leg elastic so less likely to leak around the leg holes.

Yeah, another vote for wool here. They're a little more fiddly in the washing/lanolising, but need washing less often, so it all balances out.

We use BBH PUL covers and I haven't had a problem at all with the elastic in them... and they were great when he was younger and had those poosplosions! I use them over the BBH Bamboo Fitteds and have also used them over flats and found them great either way.
