As well as loving them, they're also one of the most economical covers on the market. |

I love my bummis whisper pants for day. They go over a variety of nappies no problems, and contain those 'poosplosions' really well. I think they're great value. I use fleece for night, haven't ventured into wool, lanolising scares me a bit....

I too like Baby Beehinds to fit over any of my fitted cloth nappies but I used AllStar Wraps for lay in boosters! |

Lanolising is easiest if you do it in a single batch. It's just a matter of doing a post-wash rinse in a bucket of hot water with lanolin in it. |

We use loveybums and bbh wool covers, and booroi PUL covers. I love the booroi as they're side snapping and have leg gussets which are wonderful over flats, nappies with frills (over locked edges like cute tooshies) and the gussets also hold a pad folded prefold in place

today i hung out my fave wool cover i ever bought, its perfect for over a terry square - it was an old woollen blanket recycled into a nappy cover. i love it.

Prefolds are designed to be used with leg gusset covers, you already have Bambino Mio covers, so you are set there. Depending on the size of your bub, i had a 3.79kg bub and still needed to use the nb sized bambino mio cover with bamboo prefolds. Using terry flats as prefolds is a bulky option. and needs more frequent changing than bamboo prefolds. terryflats didn't work for us with stuffing pockets when bub is older, just too bulky and not enough absorbency. why not use the terry flats as terry flats with a small cover? put inside a bamboo booster. It sounds like you want to use prefolds and fitteds for the first stage, until baby is big enough to fit into the medium peapods or pockets of some kind. So for the EARLY stages, the best covers to combat the explosive newborn runny go everywhere poos, were hands down, the leg gusset covers - for us. (over prefolds and over fitteds). but they were no good over flats, cos flat nappies are so bulky. After teh runny poo stage abated, - your bub will be big enough to go in to the pockets? i presume? FOr ALL ROUND USE, i'm presuming you mean covers suitable for DAY and NIGHT use? then that would mean WOOLLEN soakers or Malden Mills WIndpro Covers. my suggestions would be: - look up free woolly soaker patterns on Nappycino! - Nappycino Home or Oz Cloth Nappies: Information on Cloth Nappies in Australia and New Zealand: Support, Information, Chat, and Links - buy woolly soakers, the ones with little leg cuffs, not the high cut ones, from places like Possum Pouches, Elly Belly at www.ozebaby.com.au, lots of other wahms on that site too - bear bottoms windpro fleece covers at Reusable Nappies organic nappies modern cloth nappies by nurture nappies bumgenius diapers Tots Bots itti bitti bamboo and organic baby products - sugarpeas windpro fleece covers at The WeeWuns buy wool if you are prepared to handwash and lanolise (not hard, but it is one more thing to do) buy Malden Mills Windpro if you want the item to be machine washable and dry fast this is a reality, wool is better, but is a bit more work. PUL covers are great for short wears, a day product. MM windpro and wool are great for ANY wears, day or night, short or long. so in terms of what will suit ALL ROUND, day or night, mm fleece or wool are great choices. In terms of sizing. OSFA covers tend to have very wide crotches, that might suit your terry flats. Wide crotches suit some bubs but not all. You'll know if it doesn't suit your bub, if you see camel toe occurring. OSFA covers i coudln't see suiting prefolds at all. the beauty of the handknit woollen soakers is the ability to SIZE UP. Even if a woolly is too big, you just use the drawstring to bring in the waist, the product still works (keeps baby dry). No other covers give you that "leeway" with the sizing. So i bought less sizes in the wool products. if you want an organic wool option for covers, there is a Disana Woollen Pullup Soaker (at the weewuns) that uses organic wool. no elastic too, which is a consideration for night time use. another "no elastic" option is the Bear Bottoms, which is also pullup style, but in mm fleece. FOE (Fold Over Elastic) in covers, for overnight, can be a pain, cos of the long wear on the child, they can get irritated by the FOE rubbing on their thighs for such a long wear. FOE is usually used to edge the raw edges of PUL (covers). hope that helps you.

two different fabrics both are synthetic but perform different functions. microFIBRE is an absorbent fabric, used in boosters to absorb wee. microFLEECE is a stay dry fabric, used in the inners of nappies, so when the baby wees, the wee goes THRU the microFLEECE and down into the layers of ABSORBENT fabric instead. If you are looking to avoid synthetics, then i would not buy nappies with stay dry inners (microFLEECE and suedecloth). Your options then are to: - buy nappies that have natural fibre inners such as bamboo or hemp or organic cotton. Or bamboo velour, sherpa or cotton velour. - this does mean more frequent changes, we did it from 14 months onwards, and i think it actually helped my child TT earlier. If your child is in childcare, you really have to be vocal about how often your child needs changing though, if you swap to the natural inner type nappies. If you wish to avoid synthetics with covers and outers of nappies, that means using - wool all in twos (e.g loveybums) - 100% natural fibre fitted nappies with woollen soakers, shorties, longies - there are a few fitted pocket nappies on the market e.g swaddlebees, mandymacs, but the majority of pockets are made using PUL outers. At 14 months old, my DD developed really bad nappy rash, so i suddenly had to swap over from a hybrid nappy stash, to a 100% natural nappy stash. The lanolising isn't that scary, once someone has puppywalked you thru it. instructions in the FAQ section of Oz Cloth Nappies: Information on Cloth Nappies in Australia and New Zealand: Support, Information, Chat, and Links (no au on the end)
