Default Ouchy nappy rash, help!

Jet is teething...which is bad enough, lol, but his poos have been on the runny side, usually that's not too much of a problem. But in the space of a day...well, just today really, he has broken out in a nasty looking rash that is just getting worse....it is red raw in places and just red and blotchy.
I feel so bad for him and have been letting him run around most of the day with no nappy on, but it hasn't helped. Also the only nappy rash cream we have is Brauers, usually it works great, however today, hasn't done anything, and in fact, it hurts him when I put it on....he screams and cries everytime
Needless to say, I don't want to put it on him anymore...so what else do you think?
Something I can get at either a supermarket or pharmacy unfortunately...but something that won't hurt him....I think I have bepanthen some where....would that do the trick?

Thanks
April

When N was teething, he pooed so much he ended up with a rash. I tried lots of lovely things, including calendula, chamomile, sudocream, breastmilk etc. Nothing seemed to help at all, in fact some made it even worse. Then I went back to the zinc and castor oil from Woolies and it cleared up in a day. Maybe worth a try if you've tried a lot of other things?

zinc and castor oil is the only thing that works on Will. He gets wicked nappy rash from too much fruit juice. And we lather him in it, stick a nappy on.

Just be careful with bepantehn and zinc and caster if its that bad, once i had a terrible problem with nappy rash (well not me obviously one of the kids ) and when I finally went to the chemist and showed him it was he said it was fungal- therefore all those creams were making it worse.

It seems to have gotten a little better overnight, not as 'raw' looking, but is still a bit red...the blotchy bits aren't as blotchy...lol, yep that makes perfect sense...
I found some sudocream in the cupboard, think its from one of the bounty bags, so I have slathered that on him...will see how that goes.
If it doesn't get better soon I might try and get him to stay still so a pharmacist can have a look, lol.

Thanks for all your help
April

I also like to add a bit of cornflour in the nappy I find it helps soothe.

I used cornflour as well, that combined with nappy free time as much as possible was a great cure.... Hope it cleared up for your little man.

There were only two things that helped my kids one was sudocream the other was a cornstarch/zinc powder the cream was great for the redness the powder was great for the red raw parts

Just thought I'd point out to everyone that the OP is nearly three years old.
