Default Hypnobirthing- where to get CD?

While I would love to do classes, this just isn't going to happen. I have some wonderful; relaxation CDs, but was just wondering if anyone can tell me where to get a decent hypnobirthing/calmbirthing CD?

Thanks,
Amy

The CD comes with the book. (At least it did when I bought it, so check to be sure.)

Where are you, Amy? I want to keep my CDs for reference but would be happy to lend them for a while.

Thank you! I'm in Melbourne. I am going to go to the website I think and buy the whole lot. I am borrowing the book atm. But I just wondered which was better, calmbirth or hypnobirth or whether they are much of a muchness?

Doh. I was in Melbourne over the weekend. Will be there in June again if you want to borrow. I haven't done Calmbirth but HypnoBirthing was very successful for me.

See if a library can do an interlibrary loan for you maybe?

I might too. I've only got about 10 weeks to go, but that should be enough time. Can you tell me more about your experience with it? I loved my labour last time but I can't say it didn't hurt!

HypnoBirthing was great. I am a total convert. Neither my husband nor myself were really convinced that it would work but we tried to keep our minds open, figuring we had nothing to lose.

I hadn't heard about HypnoBirthing for my first birth. It was a real grit-the-teeth ordeal and I came out quite emotionally scarred from the shock of it, despite the fact that I (somehow) managed to avoid the drugs and most of the intervention.

The shock and the pain are probably what made me give HypnoBirthing a go with my second birth. My husband and I are very practical, down-to-earth types and it did seem a little hippy to us!

Anyway, it worked really well and I had no pain. Surprisingly, I ended up with a c-section because somewhere near transition I started bleeding profusely into the tub. They called the doctor in quickly and he diagnosed a placental abruption (confirmed at 25% when they did the c-section). Labour stopped at that point and we were told that one or both of us would be dead if they didn't go straight in to get the baby. The doula with us confirmed this so we had to agree.

Anyway, despite the c-s (and maybe partly because of it) I am all for HypnoBirthing. I know very few people who have had c-sections so it was a big surprise to everyone in my family. Somehow though, I was able to accept it pretty easily. I think HypnoBirthing helped with this.

I have really fond memories of my practice time. If I had someone to look after my son I went up into my eyrie and lit candles and really relaxed into it. If I was looking after him I'd put the CD on and promise him an icypole if he let me have a rest. Every 10 minutes a little head would pop up and ask me if I'd finished resting - good practice for staying relaxed amongst the distractions in a L&D ward!

Go for it - it's really worth it.
