how long will I be sore??
Just a question for all you Mummies- had my little (well he was 4.15kg) man last week- and I'm just wondering how long it takes for the soreness in my peri to go away...I'm telling myself everytime it starts to bother me how wonderful I am to have birthed a baby- I really wasn't prepared for these sensations....I mean I really shouldn't winge- it's so much easier than recovery last time from a section- but gosh it hurts...

Re: how long will I be sore??
Can be a couple of weeks Kylie, that's in my experience.
Take it easy though for at least 6 weeks.

Re: how long will I be sore??
Heat packs may help bring circulation & therefore healing and swelling drainage to the area.
Ice will reduce swelling.
Two schools of thought, just go with what feels best.
Congrats on your big healthy boy!

Re: how long will I be sore??
I found ice helped, but it was still sore for a week or two, then for several months before sex was comfortable again.

Re: how long will I be sore??
mine was only really sore and swollen for 2 days - then i got some ice onto it and the swelling came down ( heavenly) but i hada a tear too and that took some time to feel "ok" again

Re: how long will I be sore??
lots of salt water baths or sitz baths helped me immensly. I was sore for about 4 weeks but only really bad for about one ( 2nd degree tear)

Re: how long will I be sore??
made a huuuge difference to me after DS to actually LIE down, not just sit down to rest (like I had after DD2)... but I dont' remember how long, lots of pelvic floor pain for the first two or so weeks, don't remember anything other than that tho.

Re: how long will I be sore??
It is a weired feeling isn't it.
I agree with using ICE...I was putting fresh ice on a lot...after day two when Cj went into special care I stopped noticing the pain there was too much else going on.
When we got home after two weeks i noticed a bit of pain again, but only for another couple of days...so i would say about two weeks, it probably depends on a lot of things really...how fast you heal, how much you tore, etc.
