Default Another Sling

Hi
Just need some advice on which sling to get...I know, I know I should do a search but I'm time poor yadda, yadda....
I have an Ergo and a Gentle Nest Pouch both of which I am completely happy with but I think I need another one. I would like something to use for a newborn that is a bit more handsfree than the pouch - as in doesn't sit down the arm iykwim. I have been given a Baba sling to try but I just can't seem to get on with it. I like the fact that it sits more on the shoudler than the pouch though. I want something simple that doesn't need a lot of adjusting. I haven't tried a ring-sling - do they sit over the shoulder?
Don't want to get the infant insert for the ergo 'cos it would only be useful for 5 minutes. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

yes, the ring sling goes over the shoulder, i still use it for my 10mth old, she's been in it since birth, but i've just bought a mei tai so i can carry her on my back as she is getting bigger, i haven't used it yet though. But i do love my ring sling, especially for quick outing's like shopping. But if she is in it for more than 2 hours at a time my shoulder does get a bit sore.

have a look at bubbamoe slings, they are oh so comfy with like a secure seatbelt pull strap at the back to loosen or tighten. I used mine all the time... www.bubbamoe.com.au

Im only selling mine as DH loves to babywear but ours is pink so he wants a more neutral color. Im a collector of slings, and had a bubzilla, kapoochi, peanut pouch and ergo and I stilll love the bubba moe best for newborn carry

i will try find a pic

For newborns, I find unpadded ring sling, stretchy (or woven) wrap, and adjustable-bottom Mei Tai work the best. All are more adjustable than a pouch. Ring sling shoulders vary quite a bit depending on the brand. If you want an unpadded ring sling that sits on the shoulder and doesn't come down your arms, I can recommend Maya Wrap lightly padded sling (the light padding is only on your shoulder, the rails are unpadded), Zolowear, Taylormade, or Wildslings. The last 3 can be spread down your arms if needed for additional comfort in long carry but if you don't want them, you don't have to. Good luck!

ETA: You can try out most of these slings (and other carriers) through the group in my sig.

A stretchy wrap might be easiest to get the hang of, but a ring sling will last you longer.

Thanks for all the advice. I think a ring sling will be best.
Skn - Did you make yours? Do you have a pattern?
I think I'll search out a pattern rather than try and convince DH I need another sling at this stage!
Thanks again.

Yep, I made mine- was really cheap (under $15, I think) and easy. I copied off an old ring sling I bought, but I'll see if I can find some patterns. Mine isn't as wide as normal slings and I find for that reason it's a lot more comfortable and easier to use.

Oh - I'm late....but I'd vote for a stretchy wrap. Love mine. Mr 4 month old with a cold and the miserables has been in his all day today. Sooooo comfy for the two of us and soooooo user-friendly once you get the knack
