Default Fishing rod carriers and ergo's!!!!

Okay this might be a very strange question but here goes. My best friend is due to have a baby on the 7th Jan and myself and a few friends are getting her a ergo or similar kind of carrier. Her DH is a competitive fisherman and enters competitions all the time and is planning to carry the baby in some kind of carrier (he was looking into the Baby Bjorn Activ but I have talked him out of it) and attach the rod to his waist with rod carrier.

Is there anyway of attaching modifying the carrier so he can attach a rod carrier. Will try to find a picture of a rod carrier. Will have to talk to him as he's away up in the minds till next week.

I already have an Hug-a-bub for her which is going to be her baby shower present as I got another one when Daniel was born and I already had one.

I would be worried about the safety aspects of fishing whist carrying a baby in a carrier... water, fish hooks, bait, dirty hands etc... coul not imagine it being terribly practical or functional. JMO.

What does a rod carrier look like? If it's a clip on, he can get something with a softer waist band like an adjustable bottom MT or its structured equivalent.

I have a few different slings he can try out. I have a pouch, a padded ring sling, a mei tei, an ergo and HAB so he can borrow them and try them out.
